1st Edition

  • page 148, 3rd paragraph, 4th line: "...a ray at the angle *phi*..." must be "...a ray at the angle *alpha*..."
  • page 148, 3rd paragraph, 2nd last line must be: "Note that with thick holograms, there is no color dispersion. Exit angles are defined by beam and grating angles."
  • page 164, 2nd paragraph, 2nd line: delete "- especially thin -".
  • page 165, figure 5.32: The color of the entrance rays must be blue instead of red (see: http://140.78.90.140/DisplaysBook/imageBrowser/Web-Site/Gallery.html#203 ).
  • page 165, caption of figure 5.33: "...(only some narrow banded modes (d) are reflected)." must be "...(only some narrow banded modes (d) are faintly reflected)."
  • page 257, caption of figure 7.4: "Inline-switchimg" must be "In-plane switching"
  • page 273, last line of section 7.3.10: "Liquivista" must be "Liquavista"
  • page 284, 3rd paragraph: "One transparent electrode in the front glass is used for ignition and one is used for discharge." should continue: "Charges are seeded to a cell if voltage is applied to an ignition (line) and a column electrode during raster scan, enabling a discharge when an AC voltage pulse is later on applied to all ignition and discharge electrodes on the panel."
  • page 284, figure 7.34: missing remark: "the ignition and discharge electrodes have been drawn 90 deg. turned for better visualization (actually they go from left to right)".
  • page 285, 3rd paragraph: "...sequences of several pulses" should be "...sequences of several pulses (similar to Fig. 7.15)"
  • page 285, end of 2nd-last paragraph: "With plasma displays, cathode aging is the main cause since each pixel has its own 'cathodes'." comment: Beneath this degradation of the MgO layer by sputtering etc., phosphor aging has also been observed. Yet, we want to update that latest generation plasma screens now are among the most durable of all display types.
  • page 494, title: "Video-See-Trough" must be "Video-See-Through".
  • page 502, 6th paragraph: "Phototropic glasses , as known from self-tinting glasses" must be "Phototropic glasses, also known as self-tinting glasses".
  • page 509, 2nd paragraph: remark: for brain cell counts, an astonishing variety of numbers ca be found in literature (depending on methods and on which cell types are included). For neurons alone however, an order of 100 billion (10^11) seems to be the most common estimate. The synapse count of an average neuron is substantially above 10000 for children and below that for adults.
