The animations below complement figure 5.11 in the book. They show the holographic volume grating construction for a transmission hologram (left) and a reflection hologram (right). It is very important to recognize that wavefronts are not standing waves. The amplitude patterns of the two interfering waves are moving in a direction that is just the vector average of the wavefront directions.<br>
